Michael Miller, Ed.D.

Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs

Michael Miller has been part of the UCSB community since 1998, bringing a deep commitment to student success and equity in higher education. He earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and currently serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Enrollment and Success.

Born and raised on the Skokomish Indian Reservation in Washington State, Mike was the first in his family to attend college—an experience that shaped his dedication to helping others achieve their educational goals. In addition to being a first-generation student, he is a United States Army veteran, a former student-athlete, and someone who has navigated poverty, being system-impacted, and living with a learning disability.

Mike’s life experiences allow him to connect with students from all backgrounds, and he is passionate about ensuring they have the resources and support they need to succeed. He finds it deeply meaningful to work in Student Affairs at UC Santa Barbara, where he can help students transform their lives through education.
